Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international, independent, humanitarian, medical aid organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man made disasters regardless of race, religion, politics, or gender and raising awareness of the plight of the people we help.

MSF was founded in 1971 by a small group of doctors and journalists who believed that all people should have access to medical relief. In 1999, Médecins Sans Frontières was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its pioneering humanitarian work. Today, Médecins Sans Frontières is an international independent movement with offices in nineteen countries and projects in more than 70 countries.

NEONATAL (Paediatric) NURSES
Location: Jahun

MSF is supporting Jigawa State Ministry of Health with its Emergency Obstetric and VVF program in Jahun Hospital. Jahun is located in Jigawa State, approximately one hours drive or less from Dutse and 2 hours from Kano. MSF has been working in Jahun since 2008

Requirements for the Neonatal Nurse Position
• Eligible candidates will be Nigerian registered nurses with an absolute minimum of six months of active clinical experience since graduation.
• You will be fluent in both written and spoken English, and ideally also in Hausa.
• Previous experience in neonatal/paediatric care will be considered advantageous.
• We are seeking highly motivated, committed, responsible applicants with an outstanding level of professional conduct.
• The successful candidates will be working as a part of a team in an extremely busy maternity ward which at present sees over 350 admissions and more than 250 deliveries per month.
• The successful applicants will be required to exhibit a high level of flexibility both in working environment and with their working hours, and also the ability to work successfully as a member of a large team.

Main Responsibilities
Provide quality care to all newborns admitted in the neonatal ward. Summary of tasks will include;
• Neonatal resuscitation
• Vital signs and appropriate treatment for abnormalities
• Appropriate documentation of the neonates status for the period spent on the ward

MEDICAL DOCTOR
Location: Kazuare

MSF F works in Kazaure LGA in collaboration with the local authorities and Gunduma Health System. We have implemented a nutrition program for children under 5 years old for both outpatient and inpatient care. We are looking for a motivated and hard working doctor.

Main Responsibilities

Rounding on the inpatients, attending to urgent cases as needed and assisting in the overall running of the unit. Taking part in the outpatient clinic including decentralisation clinics outside of Kazaure Hospital. Must follow MSF nutrition protocols and adhere to MSF standards of care.

Skills Required
• A registered medical practitioner
• Previous paediatric experience is beneficial
• Previous nutrition experience or training is beneficial
• Previous experience working for a NGO is beneficial
• Fluent in English, Hausa is beneficial
• Hard working and motivated
• Works well in team, flexible, eager to learn

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DOCTOR
Location: Abuja

Main Responsibilities
The person will work closely with the medical team on approaching and assessing all kinds of emergencies in Nigeria and in the implementation of emergency interventions accordingly.

Requirement
• Licensed medical doctor
• Experience in epidemic surveillance and response in advantageous
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Familiarity with MSF practice and protocols in an advantage
• Frequent travel
• Ability to speak Hausa language is an added advantage
