The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) invites applications for the position of Project Officer


DUTIES
Successful candidate will among others:
* Prepare Projects Financial Statements when due and when required for reviewing;
* Prepare, review and amend accounting controls/procedures;
* Analyse financial statements into details for Donors and provide explanations when necessary;
* Calculate Special Projects Budgets and Upload budgets into the Oracle system;
* Regular monitoring of Budgets against expenditure and review financial status;
* Prepare and upload journals;
* Train Accounting personnel and other users on Accounting Controls, procedures and interpretations;
* Participate in the preparation of monthly tables for Management Accounts, Accounts Reconciliation and Oracle Posting of journals into GL;
* Review journals, receipt vouchers, payment vouchers, cheques and Staff Payroll for the approval of Chief Financial Officer;
* Supervise subordinates and perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of BSc/HND Accounting or ICAN PE II plus eight ( 8 ) years post-qualification relevant working experience in the Finance Office of a large organisation is required.


He/she must have a sound analytical mind, be proactive and with a good knowledge of Computer Spreadsheet, Oracle applications and must be willing to put in extra hours and on weekends as the need arises.


Candidate must be committed, highly intelligent, honest and must be a good team player.
