Diageo is now recruiting for a Quality Support Manager.

This role will play a key role in achieving and ensuring delivery of quality products to the consumer across the Manufacturing Support Hub.

They will align and champion the quality improvement programs and ensure compliance to standards. Extensive travel will be required between Hub countries.

This role impacts on sales volumes in Africa delivering 775 M£ NSV through driving quality standards and improvement across the owned and managed sites inside Manufacturing Support Hub

Market Complexity:

  • This role operates across multiple markets in the developing and volatile economies of Africa as well as interacting at a global level with global functions and other supply centres.
  • The role includes ensuring compliance with diverse regulatory systems in various countries.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • This role will champion quality improvement across the Manufacturing Support Hub.
  • They will help develop strategy at the Hub level and will develop plans and lead implementation across the operating sites.
  • A primary part of the role will be extensive mentoring, training and coaching of local Quality Managers and Site operations managers.
  • The Quality Support Manager will lead of up to 6 Quality specialists.

Accountabilities:

  • Implement and ensure adherence to mandatory and appropriate quality systems across the businesses -work with the local quality managers to ensure use of standard sampling plans and methodologies across physico-chemical, packaging, microbiology, and sensory testing.-ensure reliability of measurement through selection of appropriate equipment, ring schemes, training and technical site support along with the GBTC.
  • Lead team of Quality support specialists across the Manufacturing Support Hub to deliver the stretching Improvement plans using PP methodology, achieve the agreed KPI’s and ensure the team’s capabilities are developed.
  • Champion quality across the Manufacturing Support Hub operations sites-drive cultural change to support quality in all operations.-setting appropriate standards of operation to deliver quality product-approve process changes (according to approved systems) to ensure quality products-work directly with brewery operations personnel during site visits to ensure quality standards are being met and become part of the ways of working-develop and support supplier management systems along with procurement to drive supplier improvement.
  • Coaching and development of Site Quality Managers-regular communication and coaching with local BQMs-identification and execution of developmental needs, either for individuals or the quality team-identification of potential candidates within operations for Quality team succession planning.
  • Member of the Supply leadership team on one of Site Senior Leadership team to represent the Manufacturing hub to lead the Support plan and resolve issues across the site.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in sciences 5 –10 years brewery experience across quality management and operations.
  • Experience working in a developing economy Self-motivated and achievement oriented leader.
  • Good cultural awareness.

Location:

  • Role to be based in Lagos and will require a considerable amount of travel across West Africa Manufacturing Support Hub.
  • Therefore, the incumbent needs to manage effectively remotely.

Packaging Operations Supply Manager

  • Support & lead the site teams in CI delivery using a structured PP methodology, building capability & the implementation of best practice across all plants.
  • Leads and tracks plant action plans and ensures ability of plans to hit KPI’s.
  • Responsible for assisting the operational management to access the correct support on specific issues if the Support Person is unable to resolve the issue.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Science with an Engineering/ Operational qualification/status, Diploma Master Brewer (IOB) qualification.
  • Experience in a senior production role (five plus years) such as Packaging manager/Production manager/ Brewing manager.
  • Expert manufacturing management principles and techniques in packaging, perfect plant.
  • Understanding of best practice implementation model and strategy.
  • Understanding of the principles of change management and cultures in different countries.
  • Analytical problem solving and auditing skills.
  • Understanding of governance standards such as LTO, ISO, and HACCP. Self-motivated and achievement oriented leader.
  • Role to be based in West Africa and will requires a considerable amount of travel across the Supply Hub markets; therefore the incumbent needs to manage the role effectively from a variety of locations.

  • Direct experience of Diageo Way of Selling capabilities with a focus on Sales Driver execution at the point of purchase (QDVPPP), Outlet Segmentation and Managing Relationships including structured call, persuasive selling and brand passion. Strong experience of the application of Health & Safety and Quality systems.
