Job Vacancies at United Nations Children’s Fund

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Nigeria seeks the services of experienced and qualified personnel to fill the following positions for the Nigeria country programme.


1. GENDER & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALISTS, NOD (VN-NGR-027-2009)

Contract Type: Fixed-Term
Location: Abuja
Duration: Two Years

Minimum Qualification and Competencies:
• Advance university degree in Social Sciences, Law or Development Studies, with specialization on gender development issues.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national level in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, in planning and coordinating programmes targeted towards gender and development initiatives, protection of children and women and monitoring/evaluation of rights-based and gender-related development programmes.
• Knowledge of the latest developments and technology in related fields.
• Conceptual, analytical and negotiating skills.
• Managerial skills, team work abilities and good judgment.
• Fluency in English required. Knowledge of another UN working language as asset.
• Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both with and outside the organization.


2. PLANNING MONITORING & EVALUATION SPECIALIST, NOC (VN-NGR-036-2009)
Contract Type: Fixed-Term
Location: Lagos
Duration: Two Years

Minimum Qualification and Competencies:
• Advance University Degree in Social Sciences, Demography Planning Statistics or related technical field.
• At least five years progressively responsible professional work experience at national levels in programme planning, monitoring and evaluation. Practical experience in community-based research, an asset.
• Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas as well as transfer knowledge and skills.
• Very good communication, advocacy and negotiation skills.
• Leadership, managerial skills, and teamwork abilities
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and qualitative research skills.
• Specialized training in statistics
• Fluency in English required. Knowledge of another UN working language, an asset. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
• Good knowledge of computer management and applications.
• Ability to establish harmonious working relations in an international and multi-cultural environment.
• Initiative, passion and commitment to UNICEF’s mission and professional values.
